Vertical Takeoff and Landing Vehicles, also known as VTOLs[1] and Verts, were a form of aerial transport used in the late 21st century.
Purpose[]
Verts were used for passenger transportation or for cargo delivery. They typically traveled between facilities known as vertiports,[2] but could also be hailed on demand.[3][4]
Verts could achieve exceptional speeds, able to travel from Eagle Canyon to Denver (a distance of about 323 miles/520 kilometers) in less than 27 minutes,[3] meaning verts could achieve speeds of at least 717 mph/1,153 km/h, nearing the speed of sound. Another account of their speed describes verts being able to deliver food within moments of placing the order.[5]
Some unidentified flying vehicles can be seen in two Vantage Points aiding in construction.[6][7] Whether these are also verts is unknown.
History[]
Some facilities were designed with verts in mind, such as including a landing pad for them,[8] or to provide vert-thru services.[5]
Verts saw heavy use during Project Zero Dawn and Operation: Enduring Victory; being used for capturing people to work on Zero Dawn,[9] transporting soldiers[10][11][12][13][14] as well as evacuating civilians.[15][16][17]
