Ukan is a minor character in Horizon Zero Dawn.

History

Horizon Zero Dawn

Known as a skilled hunter at home in Ban-Ur, Ukan decided to try his luck at the Hunters Lodge in Meridian. However, after learning of the rigged system against non-Carja, he decided to return home.

Ukan explaining what a Banuk farewell mark is to Aloy: "Piss on the floor, preferably someplace they won't find until it gets nice and sour."

Ukan was browsing one of the stalls in Meridian when he met Aloy, telling her about his experience in the Hunters Lodge and asking her to leave a Banuk farewell mark there in his honor.

"We live in a world of fallen cities and vanished tribes." This article or section refers to content that was removed or changed from the final product. The canonicity of this content is unclear, although is likely non-canon.

Within the localization files for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, there is a file intended to be a list of relevant text for a quest that appears to be named "Lodge A Complaint". The quest appears to have involved Aloy lodging a complaint at the Hunters Lodge after an interaction with Ukan. However, no such quest exists in the final game, with the aforementioned file being the only known one related to it that's been found. The quest appears to have been recycled into the optional conversation with Ukan in Meridian found in the final game.

Trivia

• If Aloy visits the Hunter's Lodge without speaking to Ukan first, he will not be present in Meridian afterwards.
• In Horizon Zero Dawn, Ukan wears the Banuk Survivor face paint, but doesn't wear any face paint in Remastered, making him one of the few characters to have a notable change in design between the two.
