- LONDON - February 3, 2050 - The Mayor of London and government ministers are due to meet with engineering companies today to discuss the contentious relocation of the Tower of London. A center for English history, the Tower was once a major draw for tourists. But it has stood empty, along with other riverside structures, since the first of the great Thames floods. Archeologists say that the site is suffering from serious and accelerating damage, with several areas of the famous castle close to collapse.
- Sites currently under consideration for the famous castle's relocation include Hyde Park, Richmond Park and a new tourist center at Heathrow. This follows widespread condemnation of the offer by trillionaire Ted Faro to have the structure "safely re-purposed free of charge" at FAS headquarters is Salt Lake City, Utah. Trivia[]
- The events described in this datapoint are based on a similar real life event; in 1962, the century-old London Bridge was deteriorating due to modern traffic, and was scheduled for demolition. Utilities magnate Robert P. McCulloch paid £1.02 million ($2.46 million at that time and $25 million adjusted for inflation) to dismantle the old bridge in a controlled manner, with each stone numbered and its position catalogued so it could be re-assembled in Lake Havasu City, which he founded. However, in that case, London City Councilor Ivan Luckin was the one who offered to sell the bridge to an entrepreneur, as opposed to Faro making the offer and sparking criticism.
