Teb is a minor character in Horizon Zero Dawn. He serves as a Stitcher for the Nora tribe, and was one of the few members of the tribe to respect Aloy while she was still an outcast.
History[]
While training on the Brave trails, Teb fell into a herd of Watchers and Striders. Lacking a weapon and disoriented from the fall, Teb faced near-certain death. However, he was saved by the young Outcast Aloy, who, much to his astonishment, deftly navigated past the machines and guided him to safety. When Teb attempted to thank the girl and her guardian, Rost, his father stopped and reprimanded him for attempting to speak with outcasts (a violation of the Nora's tribal law) and dragged him away.[1]
Despite his training, Teb didn't become a Brave, instead becoming a Stitcher, never forgetting the girl who saved his life and the gratitude he owed her.[1]
When she arrived in Mother's Heart twelve years later to compete in the Proving, Teersa sends her to see "an old friend" who turns out to be Teb. He gifted her a outfit he had crafted for her, finally giving her the thanks he never had the chance to express.[2]
When the Eclipse attacked the Nora during the Proving, Teb was drafted to help defend his tribe after many of the tribe's Braves were killed in the attack. Teb was relieved that Aloy was alive and explained to her about the aftermath of the attack.[3]
Teb was later wounded when the Eclipse returned to destroy the Nora. He was taken into the safety of All-Mother Mountain. When Aloy arrives and speaks to Teb, he expresses relief that she survived the attack, and that while he is no Brave, he is of more use guarding against further attack than stitching armor. Teb was there when Aloy entered All-Mother as he was recovering from his injuries.[4]
After he recovered, Teb was among the Nora that volunteered to travel to Meridian, being named a Seeker in the process, to help defend Meridian from the Eclipse, in which the Carja designated him as a Honorary Quartermaster as he was tasked to provide healing supplies to the city's defenders.[5] He wakes Aloy up after she is knocked out by the ridge collapsing on her.[6]
Varl mentions that after the Battle of the Alight, the Nora returned to the Sacred Lands.[7] Although not mentioned by name, it is likely that Teb was among them.
Personality[]
Teb is a soft-spoken, somewhat timid man and very caring. Unlike other Nora, Teb is generally tolerant towards the outside world. This attitude likely stems from his childhood, when the outcast Aloy saved him from almost certain death. Rather than the disdain that other Nora show towards the Sundom, Teb merely remarks that it "couldn't be any more different from the Sacred Lands".[5]
While Teb lacks the strength or physical skill of a Brave, he has the courage to fight when the situation requires it.
Trivia[]
- The name Teb is mainly used in the Spanish language and it is of Old Greek origin. Teb is a contraction of the English name Stephen (Greek: Stephanos, crown).
- Teb shares the same familial face paint as Karst and the Nora Keeper.
- If the player speaks to Teb during The Womb of the Mountain while wearing the outfit Teb gave you, he will comment on it.
