Tala Aquino was an employee of Faro Automated Solutions (FAS), responsible for developing the Biomatter Conversion technology used in the Chariot line of robots, as well as the Adamantine Wreath project intended to defeat it.
History[]
Early career[]
Food Crisis[]
Tala Aquino was an instrumental member of FAS in its early days. Working in The Greenhouse, Aquino developed technologies such as insect protein initiatives in an attempt to solve the growing crisis of world hunger. However, Ted Faro was a constant thorn in her side; terminating her insect protein research in favor of engineered crops which could be harvested by his company's machines and protecting a saboteur who destroyed months of work because she was supporting research he approved of.
Chariot Line[]
However, when her employer Ted Faro deemed her work futile and steered his company into the robotic military market, it was she who designed the biomass conversion technology that was the key selling point of Faro's robots, known then as the Chariot line.
Faro Plague[]
Tala Aquino's work was, in the end, the downfall of humanity. When a Chariot swarm belonging to the Hartz-Timor Energy Combine went rogue, her biomass conversion systems were what made the swarm so dangerous. Their ability to transform biological beings into fuel led to them endlessly duplicating themselves and inevitably, wiping out all life on Earth.
Adamantine Wreaths[]
Tala Aquino, in an attempt to make amends, was a leading scientist in the Adamantine Wreath project. This project was a fruitless grasp at salvation during the apocalypse of the Faro Plague. The intention was to create weapons capable of destroying the Faro machines faster than they could replicate. But by the time Tala perfected them, it was too late. The wreaths proved capable of destroying the swarm, but were too slow and inefficient to compete with the swarm's replication rate.
Legacy[]
Almost a millenium after the Faro Plague, the rogue subordinate function DEMETER settled in the ruins and repurposed the Adamantine Wreath into the Metal Flowers, likely to support seed dispersal. The Metal Flowers were found and collected by the Nora huntress Aloy.
