My first venture into the Sheerside Mountains has been marked by dry cold, biting beauty and humbling admiration. Whereas the Desert Clan is forced to use Old World ruins as the foundations for their settlements (sand makes for poor structural support), the Sky Clan seize the high peaks for strategic advantage. And I must admit, being former Carja High Command, I thank the Sun that my people never pushed this far into Tenakth territory. We would not have enjoyed it.
I'd expected the Sky Tenakth to be nomadic like the Banuk, but quite the opposite is true. The Clan Wars molded them into a reclusive faction that takes pride in their defensive capabilities. Stone Crest is a formidable example. Serving as both border outpost and hunting station, it provides an unobstructed view of the surrounding area and precise control over its entry points. Any hostile force vying for access to the valley would undoubtedly suffer massive losses.
My trusted escorts, both of Hekarro's Lowland Clan, showed little enthusiasm for my diplomatic relations with Commander Tekotteh. They grow ever more silent as we close in on the extravagantly colored Sky markings. My military and tactical observations are met with brooding looks. This has me confused. They accepted a Carja as Marshal after mere months, but the bad blood between clans still lingers after two decades of Hekarro's peaceful reign. It will be enlightening to hear the Sky Clan's perspective on such matters. Meeting this Tekotteh fellow should be interesting.
