Squirrels are a species of wildlife in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds commonly found in the Cut. When killed, they drop loot vital for several crafting recipes.
Squirrels can be found anywhere in the Cut but usually prefer heavily forested areas that provide protection from predators.
Combat
Squirrels will not attack or cause any harm to Aloy. Rather, they will flee when Aloy gets close unless undetected.
Sometimes squirrels will try to evade enemies by climbing trees, at which point they will eventually vanish into the leaves and disappear entirely.
Loot Acquired
When killed, squirrels will drop common items such as various types of meat but sometimes they will drop either Squirrel Skin or Squirrel Bone, both very valuable items that are useful for some upgrades or trading with merchants.
