The Spikesnout is a machine that appears in Horizon Forbidden West.
Appearance[]
The Spikesnout is a mix of an anteater, with the head and body, and a skunk, with the tail sprayers. Its head is long and narrow, with the lower half splitting into two, and a long tongue inside. On its back are two acid canisters and a red sac that contains damage amplifying fluid. On its belly is a damage dampening sac that is blue. It has a long tail, with the bottom portion containing a green sac that dampens stamina, and ends with two resource canisters sticking out. Its back, legs, and sides of the tail are covered in white armor plating.
Abilities[]
The Spikesnout acts as a supporter, spraying machines with amplifying gas or hindering enemies with damage or stamina dampening gas, either sprayed from its belly around the machine, or shot at long range from sprayers at the end of its tail. However, the sacs can be easily shot and destroyed, giving the Spikesnout and others in the vicinity the ability from the sac. The amplifier and stamina drain sacs are quite easy: The amplifying sac can be easily shot when facing the front of the machine and is completely unarmored, and the stamina drain sac can be easily hit when the Spikesnout raises its tail from behind.
If a machine is destroyed nearby a Spikesnout, they will use a Chemical Ejector to extract resources from the carcass until none remain.
