The Sons of Prometheus are a non-tribal faction in Horizon Forbidden West. They are Oseram mercenaries allied with Regalla and her rebels.

History[]

An alliance forged[]

The Oseram rebel, Asera, had fled Meridian after Dervahl failed in his assassination attempt on Sun-King Avad. She was approached by a mysterious man named Sylens shortly after the Battle of the Alight and was given a deal she could not pass up. He would provide her and her like-minded Oseram subordinates machine overrides and Focuses in exchange for striking up a deal to provide a machine army to the Tenakth rebel, Regalla, to take over the tribe and attack the Far Zenith base.

Asera and Regalla easily formed an alliance due their shared hatred for Carja for the deaths of their relatives in the Red Raids. Some Sons of Prometheus had reservations working with "savage" Tenakth and some rebels did not like working with outlanders but the alliance flourished in spite of incidents. They soon supplied the rebels with an army of overridden machines and even taught them how to use overrides. The Sons of Prometheus also forge equipment capable of destroying Zenith shields and successfully kill one, albeit at the cost of many rebels and operatives. Unknown to the Sons of Prometheus, their Focuses were hacked by Tilda van der Meer, who would learn of Sylens' plan.

Defeat[]

Aloy would cross paths with the Sons of Prometheus and took a special interest in their secret operations with the rebels. She would enlist the help of Erend to discover who they were as she scoured rebel camps and learned more of the group. Erend later subdued a Sons of Prometheus operative and discovered from his Focus they were based in First Forge. He and Aloy infiltrated the base and killed numerous operatives. The duo confronted Asera and killed her, leaving the Sons of Prometheus shattered and seemingly leaderless. Although some members still answered to Sylens.

Trivia[]

  • In Greek mythology, Prometheus is the Titan chiefly honored for stealing fire from Zeus and giving it to mortals for their use, the god of fire and craft. The group's name is an allusion to the Oseram's reputation as skilled metalworkers and craftsmen. However, as the Oseram have no knowledge of the ancient world whatsoever, the name of the group was most likely coined by Sylens.
