The Pelican, also known as a Seabird, is a species of wildlife in Horizon Forbidden West.

The pelicans seen in the Horizon series appear to be American white pelicans, a widespread species that can be found in the North and Central America.

History

In the Old World

Pelican zygotes were among the animals that were successfully collected before the Faro Plague eradicated the species and stored within ARTEMIS for later use in Project Zero Dawn.

In the New World

Despite not being among the animals listed by Charles Ronson as a pioneer organism, pelicans were released into the wilds, becoming common on the beaches in the Forbidden West and the Burning Shores. Whether they are indeed pioneer organisms and were released under GAIA's orders or were released by ARTEMIS during its independence is unknown.

Behavior

Pelicans are timid and quick to fly away upon detecting Aloy, never turning aggressive. Unlike most other birds, pelicans are slow to take notice of Aloy.

Loot

When looted, pelicans will always have Rich Meat and/or Wild Meat, and will occasionally have a Pelican Feather, a Pelican Wishbone, and/or a Seabird Thigh.
