Toughened is an unlockable Valor Surge under the Survivor skill tree in Horizon Forbidden West. The first level is automatically unlocked when Low Health Melee, Low Health Ranged, and Low Health Regen are all unlocked. To trigger it, it costs 140, 336, and 560 Valor for each level.

Use

Behaving identically to the Shield-Weaver's ability in Horizon Zero Dawn, the Overshield protects against most incoming damage until it is depleted. The time delay it takes for the shield to recharge is 3 seconds (if the shield hasn't been depleted or taken any damage in that time) or 7 seconds (if the shield has been depleted), provided the Valor Surge is still active.

  • Deflects 10% of melee damage against the attacker.
  • Duration: 45 seconds

  • Deflects 20% of melee damage against the attacker.
  • Shield explodes when depleted, dealing 300 Shock damage and 150 Shock buildup in a 8 meter radius.
