Otosu is a character in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.

History[]

Not much is known about Otosu's early life back in the Great Delta, other than his father was arrested for speaking out against Imperial decree.

Otosu joined the Eastern Expedition along with his friend Lan. Unfortunately, half the Quen fleet was waylaid by a storm and ended up shipwrecked in the Burning Shores. After a year of being marooned, while out on a scouting mission, Otosu and Lan were approached by Walter Londra, posing as a Living Ancestor, proclaiming they had been chosen for the "Ascension". They would then travel to Heaven's Rest and joined other Quen Londra had recruited, but were told to avoid all contact with the others at Fleet's End.

While at Heaven's Rest, Otosu and Lan would learn that Londra's "Ascension" was the promise that he would take his devoted to another planet to escape a dying Earth. After seeing the Ascension Hall and the rocket Londra had built, to Lan, everything made sense, from the Time of Ashes and the floods back in the Great Delta. However, Otosu was hesitant to trust Londra, sensing that his kindness was conditional, recalling the hypocrisies of the Boards back home, and the fact that Londra had underlings like Zeth to do his bidding.

As they exited the Ascension Hall, they passed by Aloy and Seyka, who later approach Otosu for information on how to pass Brenik. Some time after the two women entered the Ascension Hall, Brenik returned to announce to everyone that the Ascension was nothing but a lie, having learned the truth from a dying Zeth, leaving them with no choice but to return to Fleet's End. However, just as they were about to set off, Otosu's group was accosted by Pirik, another of Londra's enforcers. Otosu managed to get away, but others were captured. However, Lan willingly followed Pirik, believing he would lead him back to Londra.

Desperate to get Lan back, Otosu approached Aloy at Fleet's End and falsely told her Lan was abducted. She would later track down Lan and learned the truth. The subsequently reunion was bittersweet, as Lan was still in denial over Londra's deceptions. He was then confronted by Aloy over his own deception, stating that it was no different than Londra. She then asked Otosu to take care of Lan and work with Valea to help Londra's remaining devoted and to bridge the gap with their shipmates who resented them for abandoning them willingly.
