Miriam is a character mentioned in datapoints in Horizon Zero Dawn and mentioned in Horizon Forbidden West.
History[]
On March 11, 2020,[1] Miriam gave birth to her only known child: Elisabet Sobeck, and raised her outside of Carson City, Nevada. Miriam became aware of her daughter's brilliance early in her life. After a six-year-old Elisabet accidentally started a fire, Miriam showed her the baby birds that had been killed in the fire. When Elisabet showed no remorse, Miriam took Elisabet's face in her hands and told her that she had to care, stating that being smart will count for nothing if she doesn't make the world better, and that she had to use her smarts to count for something, to serve life, not death,[2] and further encouragements about life's need for support, care and love.[3]
Miriam passed away a few years before Elisabet met Tilda,[4] around the time that regulatory authorities were beginning to clamp down on AIs,[5] placing Miriam's passing around the early to mid-2040s.
Legacy[]
Elisabet went on to name her company, Miriam Technologies, after her mother.[6] Also, during GAIA's development, Elisabet frequently told her stories about Miriam.[2][7]
