Lawan is a Carja officer and acts as the Commander of the Carja garrison at Barren Light.
History[]
Horizon Forbidden West[]
On the day of the Embassy, Aloy approached Lawan, assuming him to be the commander, and explained she needed the Embassy to proceed. Unfortunately, Lawan wasn't the commander and told her that while the Carja had signalled their readiness, the Tenakth Marshals had not, and thus the gates would not open for anyone until then. He then escorted her to Commander Nozar.[1]
When the Embassy was attacked by Regalla's Rebels, Lawan ordered the archers to fire at will, but due to the combatants' proximity to the fortress, they were unable to get a clear shot, resulting in the entire Carja delegation being slaughtered.[1]
Following the entire Carja delegation being slaughtered, including Nozar, Lawan is appointed as his successor. He spoke with Aloy before she departed, sharing what he knew of the Forbidden West.[1]
Personality[]
Lawan is amicable and friendly, in sharp contrast to his late superior Nozar, while also equally shrewd, recognizing Avad would not risk retaliation for the Embassy and correctly guessing the approximate location of the Rebels' Camp used before the attack.
