- "She reads the sky like a scroll... knows every constellation by position, no matter how much it spins around up there."
- ―Seyka
Kina is a character in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. She is the younger sister of Seyka.
History[]
Ever since she took her first exam, Kina attracted the attention and favor of the Imperial family due to her gift in navigation by reading the stars in the sky.
Kina, along with her older sister Seyka, was among the Quen selected for the Eastern Expedition to San Francisco, with Kina being one of their navigators. During the voyage, the fleet was split in two by a storm, with Kina's half winding up stranded in the Burning Shores with no clue regarding the fate of the others.
Kina would later be among the Quen sent out on a scouting expedition and go missing. Walter Londra came across them group and, using their worship of the Ancestors to his advantage, manipulated them into serving him by promising "the Ascension" for those who followed him, with some being taken to addition to be part of his retinue, including Kina.
Kina would be among the last sent to Pangea Park to undergo final auditions to be part of Walter's retinue, with Londra having Kina and Peera audition fill the role of his mate by reciting some of his ex-wife's famous lines. When Peera had awkwardly delivered her lines, Walter dismissed her and listened to Kina, who he was much more impressed with. After they were interrupted by Seyka and Aloy, an Apex Slaughterspine broke its way into Pangea Park, crushing Peera to death under its foot. Londra flew away, leaving a terrified Kina behind to be protected from the Slaughterspine by Aloy and Seyka. After the fight, Kina is comforted by her sister and taken back to Fleet's End.[1]
When approached by Aloy in Fleet's End, Kina assumed she thought of her as a fool for being taken in by Londra. Aloy assured her that Londra had centuries to learn how to manipulate people and that she would need time to get over what happened. She also reminded her that Seyka had been though a lot too, having risked exile and death to find her. Kina then expressed fear that her sister would not forgive her for abandoning her to follow Londra, but Aloy was confident she would, but noted that she would have to work for her forgiveness.[2]

Trivia[]
- Despite being a Navigator, Kina doesn't wear the Quen Navigator face paint. While not an exact match, Kina's face paint resembles the Wavewatcher face paint.[3]
