The Grimhorn is a machine in Horizon Forbidden West.
History[]
The Grimhorn is one of the most recently developed machines, being a modified Combat Class form of the Acquisition Class Plowhorn.
Aloy first encountered a Grimhorn in Repair-Bay TAU. It had been converted from the land-god Fa into a Grimhorn over the last three weeks.[1]
Aloy and Zo later hunted down two Apex Grimhorns to salvage their control cores, in order to modify them to allow a reboot for the remaining Utaru land-gods, allowing for the restoration of Plainsong.[2]
HEPHAESTUS sent another Grimhorn after Aloy in Cauldron GEMINI, which she successfully destroyed.[3]
Appearance[]
As a modified Plowhorn, the Grimhorn is mostly identical to its original form, resembling a triceratops or a similar prehistoric ceratopsid. While the base chassis is more or less the same (save for some different coloration in the armor plating), the Grimhorn has a number of adaptations for combat: the sacs on its back are filled instead with Blaze, and its rear hips are armed with Cluster Launchers.
Abilities[]
Grimhorns are much more dangerous than Plowhorns, being able to spew flames from its horns and shoot cluster rockets from its launchers. The launchers can be shot off and used as a weapon.

Trivia[]
- Grimhorns do not spawn in the open world of Horizon Forbidden West and can only be encountered during quests; including:
- The Dying Lands
- Gemini
- The Second Verse
- Cage Fight in the Arena
- In the original build of Horizon Forbidden West, the Apex Grimhorn will never be added to the compendium if Aloy doesn't scan them during The Second Verse side quest, as that is the only time they spawn.
- This issue is later alleviated by Patch 1.13 by automatically adding them in upon completing the side quest.
