Horizon Wiki

The Goose is a species of wildlife in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West.

Geese seen in the Horizon series appear to be Canada geese, a migratory species that can be found in North America, New Zealand, and northwestern Europe.

History[]

In the Old World[]

Geese zygotes were among the animals that were successfully collected and stored within ARTEMIS for later use in Project Zero Dawn before the Faro Plague eradicated the species.

In the New World[]

Despite not being among the animals listed by Charles Ronson as a pioneer organism,[1] geese were released into the wilds, inhabiting the Sacred Lands and the northeastern Clan Lands. Whether they are indeed pioneer organisms and were released under GAIA's orders or were released by ARTEMIS during its independence is unknown.

Horizon Forbidden West[]

In order to make Chef's Special, Pentalla enlisted Aloy to collect some Bird Eggs from goose nests, as well as some Bird Meat.[2]

Behavior[]

Geese tend to gather on high elevations or near water, with a breeding grounds on the island off the shore of Salt Bite.

Geese don't cause any harm to Aloy, and tend to fly away upon noticing her or being fired at.

Uses[]

Geese are the only source of Geese Bones and Skin in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being a bird, geese cannot be looted for Bird Meat in Horizon Forbidden West.
  • After some changes were made during Horizon Zero Dawn's development, Mathijs de Jonge saw a very large goose fly through the story, which needed to be fixed.[3] This has indeed been fixed in the final game.
