Geared Up: Stormslinger is an errand in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.

Synopsis

In Longnotch, Aloy encounters Burgrend's daughter Varga, an Oseram tinker with a special interest in technologically-advanced ranged weapons. Among these is the Stormslinger, a powerful Shock weapon used by the well-known Banuk shaman Ourea.

After receiving a Stormslinger at the end of the side quest The Shaman's Path, Aloy can visit Varga, who will excitedly examine the weapon and offer to improve it. To do so, she needs the talon from a Stormbird. Since they are not present in the Cut, it is necessary to return to the Sundom to complete this errand.

Varga asks Aloy to meet her at the Stormbird machine site near Free Heap, just west of Dawn's Sentinel. After taking down the machine together, Varga will linger nearby. Aloy can speak to her then to improve the weapon or catch up with her later back in Longnotch.

Trivia

• It is not necessary to meet Varga and dispatch this particular Stormbird to advance the objective. Looting any Stormbird after starting the quest will provide Aloy with the Stormbird talon necessary to upgrade her weapon.
