Garokkah is a character in Horizon Forbidden West.
History[]
Garokkah spent much of his life during the Tenakth Clan Wars, during which he lost his squad to an ambush by the Sky Clan in the Stand of the Sentinels.[1]
As he grew older, older than most Tenakth have historically lived, Garokkah began to experience what he described as "a fog", including lapses in memory, resulting in him reliving the Clan Wars, presumably some form of age-onset dementia.[1] While he kept this a secret from his clan, his people began to notice how he would wander off into the forest for periods at a time.[2]
Horizon Forbidden West[]
During one of his episodes, Fenirra came to his hunting camp to ask him to return home. Not recognizing his own daughter, Garokkah attacked and gravely wounded her.[2]
Alerted by the recovering Fenirra, the Nora huntress Aloy found Garokkah in the midst of one of his episodes, taking down a Clawstrider. He requested help as Jay Squad was about to be ambushed, which Aloy initially thought he was talking about Regalla's rebels, but noticed that their circumstances didn't match what Garokkah was telling her. When they found a memorial to the fallen Jay Squad, Garokkah came back to the present, no longer recognizing Aloy. As she reintroduced herself, Garokkah realised that he went away again and opened up to Aloy about his condition and was horrified that he had hurt his daughter.[3]
After working with Aloy to get a stolen piece of the memorial back from some Clamberjaws, Garokkah returned to Tide's Reach, where he was lovingly embraced by Fenirra. Now understanding his situation as explained by Aloy, Fenirra promised that when the fog came, she would remember for him.[3]
