The Frost Blaster is a close range heavy weapon in Horizon Forbidden West that deals Frost damage.
How to obtain[]
Frost Blasters can be shot off of the shells of Shellsnappers. They are attached to the shell plates, and so cannot be removed on their own, requiring the entire plate to be taken off.
Usage[]
Similar to the Firespitter and Acidspitter, the Frost Blaster is a short ranged heavy weapon though it deals high Frost damage and Frost severity rather than Fire or Acid.
Advantages[]
- Easy to inflict Brittle status on enemies, especially if they are vulnerable to Frost.
- If the enemies are resistant to Frost, it deals the same damage, only less buildup.
Disadvantages[]
- Limited to short range only.
- Limited ammo supply.
- Ineffective against the source machine due to its resistance to Freeze buildup. The exception is the Apex variant, as it is weak to Freeze buildup.
- Like all heavy weapons, it slows Aloy down when she wields it.
Trivia[]
- There is a variant of the Frost Blaster only accessible during the main quest Singularity. It has the exact same functionality except that it shoots fire instead of frost.
