Food are items introduced in Horizon Forbidden West. They can boost the level of skills and restore player Health and Stamina. Similar to potions, the player has a Food Pouch which can be upgraded at the workbench. Food can be purchased from cooks found in major settlements, with dishes corresponding to their tribe's cuisine. Each dish has its own cost that can include Metal Shards as well as food resources. The player can obtain these resources by hunting wildlife or foraging from plants.
Meals and food can be eaten immediately by the player or can be kept in the inventory to later provide temporary buffs, such as extra health, higher damage, etc.
Boosted skills and restoration[]
Each dish has a unique Skill that it boosts. Uncommon and Rare dishes boost this skill by 3 Levels, whereas Very Rare dishes boost this skill by 2 Levels. The exception to this is Local Stew, which boosts the player's Maxiumum Health by 20%. The boost lasts for 3 minutes, which can be increased with the Food Duration skill. Boosts will last for 4.5 minutes at Level 1 of Food Duration and 7.5 minutes at Level 2.
A few dishes boost the skill Evader, which is exclusive to outfits and weaves. This skill is not present in the player's skill tree. Instead, it is obtained by wearing an outfit or equipping a weave which provides the player with this skill.
Additionally, most dishes restore a portion of the player's Health and Stamina. Common and Uncommon dishes restore 25%, Rare dishes restore 50%, and Very Rare Dishes restore 75%.
