Unit G-Mark-1,[1] known to the Utaru as Fa, was a unique machine in Horizon Forbidden West.
History[]
Unit G-Mark-1 was originally one of the eight Plowhorns responsible for maintaining the land near Regional Control Center 9, making the soil extremely fertile and bountiful. This work was only interrupted by a yearly visit to Repair-Bay TAU for routine maintenance.[2]
When the first Utaru came across the land and settled there, they named it Plainsong and came to see the local Plowhorns as "land-gods", worshipping them and decorating them with handprints and ornaments of worship, as well as marking their visits to TAU (which they called the sacred cave) as the eight hallowed festivals of their calendar. As they returned from the sacred cave clean and restored two days later, with no sign of any decoration from the Utaru, this reinforced their belief in the natural cycle of the world.[2] They were named after sounds derived from solfeggio, a method of marking musical intonation, with G-Mark-1 being named Fa.
This cycle continued for generations, until the Derangement began, when the land-gods stopped visiting the sacred cave for maintenance, causing them to eventually start breaking down and malfunction. They started glutting Plainsong endlessly with mulch, eventually allowing the Red Blight to start spreading in the region, causing a widespread food shortage among the Utaru.[2]
Three weeks prior to Aloy meeting Zo, Fa returned to the sacred cave. This raised the local tribe's hopes that the cycle was restarting, but after three weeks, this hope was lost.[2]
Horizon Forbidden West[]
After some resistance from the Chorus, Aloy, Varl and Zo entered the sacred cave and TAU, eventually finding Fa, converted by HEPHAESTUS into a Grimhorn. Zo, fearing the Utarus' reaction to being attacked by one of their land-gods, hesitantly agreed that they had to destroy it. HEPHAESTUS released Fa against the three intruders, alongside several other machines, but they failed to stop them and were all destroyed, while HEPHAESTUS was purged from TAU by Aloy.[3]

Trivia[]
- Fa is seen as female to the Utaru, as Zo uses she/her pronouns for Fa, while Aloy and Varl, seeing Fa as just a machine, use it/that pronouns.[2]
- Fa has less HP than other Grimhorns. This could be because it wasn't finished with its construction, or purely to prevent the battle from being too difficult at that point in the game.
