Drae is a mentioned only character in Horizon Forbidden West.
History[]
As a bold, strong and curious child, Drae would often visit the then-longest serving member of the Chorus, who would look up from her tea and smile at Drae. One day, Drae asked where the world begins and ends, with the old woman replying that no answer from her will satisfy her, so Drae must go out into the world and search, and return to tell her the answer.[1]
Drae left home in laughter, wanting nothing more than to explore the boundaries of the world. First, she went to Plainsong's fields to ask the land-gods her questions, but they hummed their busy song and went about their work. Crossing the plains, Drae asked her questions to a Tallneck, to which it shook its head. Next, Drae went to the banks of the river to ask a Snapmaw, but it only clicked its teeth. Finally, Drae climbed the mountains to ask the Glinthawks, but they only cawed to the wind.[1]
In defeat, Drae returned to Plainsong and visited the old woman, telling her that she couldn't find the beginning or the end of the world. The old woman explained that the world is as the cycle, it does not have a beginning or end, continuing on and on, living and dying, and turning back again. Drae's eyes grew wider as she listened, with the old woman satisfied that the seed of wisdom had been planted in Drae.[1]
Many years later, Drae became a member of the Chorus, herself becoming the longest-serving. One day, a bold and strong child named Bai came before her with a question, the old woman Drae looked up from her tea and smiled.[1]
Drae's status in the present day is unknown, although she no longer appears to be a member of the Chorus as she isn't seen among them.[2]
Legacy[]
Drae's story is told by an Utaru farmer in Plainsong to some children, with Aloy able to listen as well.[3]
