Day's End is an abandoned Sun-Ring located between the Spurflints and Eagle's Fall.
Description[]
Located southeast of Meridian and the Alight, Day's End is built into a canyon near the Spurflints.
Day's End has been abandoned for a significant amount of time, with some parts having started to become overgrown, and some structures have fallen apart. The main entrance leads into a hallway lined with statues of Sun-Kings and into the central chamber. The central chamber contains an elevator and cages used to transport prisoners into the Sun-Ring. Holding cells for prisoners and machines are also found here. At the top lies the Sun-Ring, which grants a view of Meridian and the Alight.
Much of Day's End was heavily damaged by machines being lured to it by Asera, and the Sun-Ring itself has been heavily burned down.
History[]
Day's End was used during the reign of Sun-King Jiran to sacrifice people to the Sun in an attempt to end the Derangement, with at least some of those sacrificed being Oseram.[1]
Horizon Call of the Mountain[]
After Asera survived crashing her Tallneck, she fled into Day's End where she brought machine lures and deployed traps to prevent pursuit. Multiple machines, including Glinthawks, a Stormbird, and a Thunderjaw were lured to area. Ryas pursued Asera after recovering from the crash, disabling the many traps and avoiding machines along the way. He made it to the central elevator taking him up to the Sun-Ring, where Asera used her remaining lures to call in a Fireclaw. The ensuing battle set fire to much of the structure, causing it to collapse. Although Ryas attempted to save Asera, she chose to fall into the jungle below, refusing to let herself be saved by a Carja. Ryas himself was rescued by Carja soldiers that arrived at Day's End.[2]
