"Any kindness we seed, we also sow."
―Daen

Daen is a minor character in Horizon Forbidden West.

History[]

Horizon Forbidden West[]

Playing his part in providing his community during the a time of food shortage, Daen, alongside Lea and Ioh, sought to bring a small harvest from the edges of the plains to their people in Plainsong. Along the way however, they were attacked by a Skydrifter not far from Plainsong. As they desperately tried to fight off the machine while protecting the harvest, it was with Aloy's intervention that they were able to bring down the machine.[1]

Thanking Aloy for her support, Daen invited her to visit them atop the northern dish when they return to Plainsong.

Sometime between Horizon Forbidden West and The Official Horizon Cookbook: Tastes of the Seven Tribes[]

After the food crisis was resolved, some Utaru had grown to enjoy the non-vegetarian Oldgrowth Gruel that they had to eat. In response, Daen created the Newgrowth Bowls as a meat-free alternative.[2]

The Official Horizon Cookbook: Tastes of the Seven Tribes[]

Once the Oseram group reached the Utaru capital, Milduf met Daen. There, Daen taught Milduf about the land-gods that provided the Utaru with most of their crops, as well as teaching him several Utaru dishes. The Oseram then joined Daen and his people for a communal meal of Wheatslice, Spicy Beanweed Morsels, and Beanweed Bites served on a large platter. While Milduf enjoyed the experience, Arvund and the rest of the Oseram were unsatisfied by the vegetarian food and its reliance on beanweed, causing them all to suffer audibly well into the night.[3]
