Horizon Zero Dawn[]

Deer[]

The Deer was a cut animal in Horizon Zero Dawn, with two deer appearing in concept art fleeing from some Thunderjaws.

Despite being cut from the final game, deer are known to have been reintroduced to the world.[1]

Hawk[]

The Hawk was a cut animal in Horizon Zero Dawn, with its name being found within the localization files of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition in the names of some items associated with it, those being the Hawk Bone, Hawk Item and Hawk Skin.[2]

Despite being cut from the final game, hawks are known to have been reintroduced to the world,[3] having inspired the position of Hawk within the Hunters Lodge.

Horse[]

As seen in early concept art for Horizon Zero Dawn, horses were originally planned to be in the game as mounts used by bandits.[4]

Horses cannot be found in the final game, with no evidence of them having been reintroduced to the world. However, statues of them can be found as part of the Pikes Peak Range Riders statue in Devil's Thirst.

Loon[]

The Loon was a cut animal in Horizon Zero Dawn, with its name being found within the localization files of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition in the names of some items associated with it, those being the Loon Bone and Loon Skin, with descriptions associated with them being "Carved only from the Loon, this uncommon animal part is useful in crafting and is valuable to merchants." and "Carved only from the Loon, this rare animal part is useful in crafting and is valuable to merchants."[2]

Despite being cut from the final game, loons are known to have been reintroduced to the world, having been mentioned to exist.[5]

Thrush[]

The Thrush was a cut animal in Horizon Zero Dawn, with its name being found within the localization files of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition in the names of some items associated with it, those being the Thrush Bone and Thrush Skin.[2]

Despite being cut from the final game, thrushes are known to have been reintroduced to the world, having inspired the position of Thrush within the Hunters Lodge.
