Changed Tribes[]

The Carja[]

Carja

Carja

In the localization files of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, the folder that contains the subtitle files for In Foreign Lands reveals that the quest was named "The Lost Cara Soldier" during an early stage of development. Whether "Cara" is simply a typo or is an early name for the Carja is unclear as the title is only written once in the files.[1]

The Shadow Carja[]

The .

The Eclipse.

At some point in development, the cult of the Eclipse were known as "Zero Dawn". However, as development continued, due to the Carja devotion to the sun, the developers realised that "Eclipse" was a much more fitting name for them, while the name Zero Dawn was more fitting for Elisabet's project.[2]

The Tenakth[]

Tenakth

Tenakth

Janeva describes the Tenakth as "reavers from the south" of the Sundom,[3] when their homeland of the Clan Lands is actually west of the Sundom. Whether Janeva's erroneous claim is a mistake on the developers' part, a mistake on Janeva's part, or that the Tenakth were planned to live south of the Sundom during Horizon Zero Dawn's development but were changed to instead live west during Horizon Forbidden West's development is unknown.

The Utaru[]

Plainsong

Teersa mentions that Plainsong is closer to the Sacred Lands than the Forbidden West is,[4] when in actuality, Plainsong is within the Forbidden West. Whether Teersa's erroneous claim was a mistake on the developers' part, a mistake on Teersa's (or Rost's) part, or that Plainsong was not planned to be in the Forbidden West during Horizon Zero Dawn's development but was changed during Horizon Forbidden West's development is unknown.

Others[]
