- "Using this unique method of "burying" saltwater fish in various flavourful and potent spices, the Banuk are able to preserve their catch. It stays good for two, maybe even three moons, if they are able to keep it in its frozen state."
- ―Milduf's description of Cured Coldwater Fish in The Official Horizon Cookbook: Tastes of the Seven Tribes

Trivia[]
- Despite its name indicating that it's made using coldwater fish, Cured Coldwater Fish is actually made using saltwater fish (which can be obtained from moonfish and the striped bass in Horizon Forbidden West).
- However, the recipe in The Official Horizon Cookbook reveals that the fish used to make Cured Coldwater Fish is salmon, which gives neither coldwater fish nor saltwater fish in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. Whether the recipe using salmon is completely accurate to its in-universe counterpart or not is unknown.
- While Banuk territory is not known to reach any coasts, the Banuk's use of saltwater fish in Cured Coldwater Fish indicates that their territory does indeed reach an ocean.
