Convoy Ambush is a Salvage Contract in Horizon Forbidden West.

Synopsis[]

Following the events of the Embassy, Aloy ventures into No Man's Land to follow-up on Keruf's Salvaging Camp. There, Keruf introduces her to his lead salvager, Larend. After the introductions, Keruf departs and Larend admits that despite his position as lead, he fears that his work will be shadowed by rival salvagers in Keruf's competition to design a set of formidable armor. Determined to win the generous reward, Larend entices Aloy with his concept of a uniquely resilient set of armor. However, despite having conjured the plans for the armor, he lacks the necessary components and so employs Aloy to track down machines to salvage their parts. Believing that the robust plating from a Shell-Walker's crate will make similarly robust armor, Larend gives Aloy her first contract for a Shell-Walker convoy his crew have tracked down. Informing her that she need only defeat the machine and his crew will take retrieve the plating themselves, Aloy sets off.

Travelling to the Passage, Aloy arrives with enough time to set her own traps in addition to the boulder traps Larend's crew have rigged. With the passage ready for the convoy, Aloy rests at the nearby campfire to wait.

Before long, a convoy of two Burrowers and a single Shell-Walker arrive at the passage. After dispatching the machines, Aloy takes what she can before leaving the crate wreckage for Larend's crew to salvage.

Aloy returns to Larend at the camp to inform him of the salvage. Larend thanks Aloy and informs crewmembers Fanda and Rendur of the pick-up. Unfinished with his idea though, Larend proposes his armor could use additional improvements and so he offers Aloy two more contracts to retrieve alarm antennas from Scroungers and the jaws of a Scrapper.
