The Coil Blaster is a heavy weapon in Horizon Forbidden West that deals Explosive and Shock damage.
How to obtain[]
Coil Blasters can be shot off of the end of the tail of a Slitherfang with tear damage. Removing all three disables all of the machine's electrical attacks.
Usage[]
The Coil Blaster fires large orbs of electricity that travel slowly until they hit a surface or enemy. If fired continuously, the firing speed, orb size, and orb speed increase the longer the weapon is fired for, eventually hitting a cap. Depending on how much it is charged, it deals a base 10-25 Explosive damage and 5-25 Shock buildup. The Coil Blaster has a magazine size of 20 shots before running out.
Advantages[]
- High Shock damage.
- Easy to apply the Shocked status, especially on machines weak to Shock
- Ramping weapon performance allows for large amounts of damage at full ramp up.
- One Slitherfang has three that can be removed.
Disadvantages[]
- Limited ammo supply.
- Orbs travel slower than most projectiles, even at full ramp up.
- Must be fired continuously to reach full potential, leaving Aloy vulnerable.
- Like all heavy weapons, it slows Aloy down when she wields it.
