- "For a dozen generations, the three clans battled for control of this hallowed ground."
- ―Hekarro
The Clan Wars[1] were a devastating conflict within the Tenakth tribe. The conflict spanned hundreds of years and killed countless Tenakth.
Events[]
The three clans of the Tenakth (Desert, Lowland, and Sky) were in a state of perpetual warfare with one another. This conflict lasted for a dozen generations (a period of 300 years)[2] and killed numerous members of the tribe. The bloodshed was so intense that most Tenakth did not live past the age of thirty.[3]Due to the martial nature of the tribe, the Clan Wars kept going on since the clans would form one vendetta after another with another clan.
The war was still raging until the commander of the Lowland and most powerful soldier of all the Tenakth, Hekarro, placed his sights on the Memorial Grove to establish himself as the tribe's Chief. He was originally another bloodthirsty warlord but as he sat in the Grove surrounded by his dead enemies, Hekarro saw a Vision that was interpreted as a call for peace among the tribe. Experiencing a change of heart, Hekarro established himself as the new Chief and made a peacekeeping force among the Tenakth known as the Marshals to maintain order. The Clan Wars had finally ended and a fragile peace now exists among the clans.
Aftermath[]
Peace under Hekarro has somewhat led to an increase in the average lifespan of the Tenakth. Their unity also served them well during the Red Raids, as no other tribe had the same success in repelling the Carja invaders that they did. They dealt a number of crushing defeats to the Carja, namely at the Battle of the Burning Blooms, the Battle of Cinnabar Sands, and the Battle of Barren Light.
20 years after Hekarro became Chief, one of his former Marshals, Regalla, took up arms and rebelled against him, threatening to plunge the tribe into strife once more. However, the efforts of Marshal Kotallo and Aloy of the Nora helped to consolidate Hekarro's rule and end the rebellion.
