Cauldron SIGMA is an activity in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Cauldron SIGMA is a HEPHAESTUS facility that manufactures machines for use in terraforming, located north of Mother's Crown and situated inside a mountain. The only known machines that SIGMA produces are Fire Bellowbacks.
Description[]
The entrance to SIGMA is a large triangular door, guarded by several Watchers. The interior of the Cauldron is a large, dimly lit maze of chambers and tunnels, with masses of metal and wires that make up the walls, floors, and ceiling. A large amount of automated machinery can be seen working to assemble parts. The core area is a large circular room where a machine is assembled inside a force field, guarded by Watchers.
Several triangular crates containing vital resources, as well as medicinal fungi are scattered around SIGMA. In place of tall grass are vents that can be damaged to create concealing steam clouds.

Horizon Zero Dawn[]
Dral stumbled upon Cauldron SIGMA while hunting beyond the Red Drifts and was briefly enraptured by the strange architecture; as a result, a nearby Watcher managed to approach unnoticed and pounce on her. Although she managed to fight off the machine and return to Mother's Crown, the experience left her with a nasty scar on her face that reaffirmed her beliefs that the ruins of the Metal World were not to be trifled with. Dral tells the story to Aloy, as well as location of the Cauldron, though she warns her it would be better to stay away.
Aloy successfully infiltrates SIGMA and reaches the core, finding a Fire Bellowback mid-fabrication within a forcefield. Once she uses her override on a nearby pillar, the forcefield dropped, releasing the Fire Bellowback to attack her, accompanied by several Watchers. Once they were all destroyed, Aloy overrode the core, allowing her to gain access to the override information for the Grazer, Lancehorn, Sawtooth and Scrapper.
