Call And Response is an errand quest in Horizon Forbidden West.
Synopsis[]
After bringing down the Bulwark, Aloy is instructed by Kotallo to find Chaplain Gerrah to offer her assistance to the settlement's people. Impressed by her bold actions at the Embassy and against Tekotteh, Gerrah informs Aloy of a squad of warriors that had followed Kotallo to the Embassy in defiance of Tekotteh's orders. Upon their return, their punishment for insubordination was disguised as a strategic reassignment to retake and guard an abandoned watchtower. Gerrah requests that Aloy bring them home, as their services are wasted there and Tekotteh would be unable to argue against Hekarro's Champion and the Chaplain's support.
Journeying to the watchtower in the Cold Rushes to the west, Aloy finds Kivva, the leader of the squad. Upon delivering the news for their return, Kivva informs Aloy that their last member, Ezekko, is on guard duty at a watchtower in the mountains. When Kivva sounds the call however, Ezekko is uncharacteristically unresponsive. Concerned for the warrior, Aloy leaves to check in.
Upon reaching the watchtower, Aloy finds a pair of Skydrifters. After defeating the machines, Aloy discovers Ezekko's body, with his wounds suggestive of a quick, surprise attack by the machines. Another call is sounded by Kivva, and recognizing it as different from the first, Aloy glides back to the falls watchtower, which is now under attack by Glinthawks. Together with the remaining members of Ram Squad, Aloy defeats the machines.
Kivva is understandably distraught to learn of Ezekko's death, especially when it came about thanks to Tekotteh's unjust punishment, although she is thankful that Tekotteh has been bested. The surviving members of Ram Squad return to the Bulwark, while Aloy privately expresses her disgust at Tekotteh's pettiness.
