Badgers are a species of wildlife in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.
Badgers seen in the Horizon series most closely resemble the American badger (albeit with a lighter colored coat), a widespread species found across North America.
History[]
In the Old World[]
Badger zygotes were among the animals that were successfully collected before the Faro Plague eradicated the species and stored within ARTEMIS for later use in Project Zero Dawn.
In the New World[]
Despite not being among the animals listed by Charles Ronson as a pioneer organism,[1] badgers were released into the wilds, becoming common around the water and forests of the Cut, especially in the southeastern areas. Whether they are indeed pioneer organisms and were released under GAIA's orders or were released by ARTEMIS during its independence is unknown.
Behavior[]
Badgers are docile and quick to flee upon detecting Aloy, never turning aggressive. They tend to run in a distinctive zig-zag pattern, which can leave a noticeable trail in the snow, often giving away their location.
Uses[]
Badgers are the only source of Badger Skin or Badger Bones.
