The Ascension is a spaceship designed by Walter Londra in order to escape from Nemesis.

Overview[]

The Ascension is equipped with a nuclear thermal rocket based on the designs for the Slipstream prototype, with the safety parameters overridden. It also has a cryogenic cargo pod with life support functionality as well as MSP monitoring.^[2]

If launched, the Ascension would release heavy nuclear fallout, enough to affect every tribal land in the region,^[3] with the original Slipstream prototype estimated to be able to contaminate a radius of up to a thousand miles at lethal levels.^[4]

History[]

Using data recovered from Starlight Rise of the rejected Project: Slipstream, Londra had a Horus begin fabricating the Ascension, intending to use it to escape Earth before Nemesis arrives, taking with him a select group of Quen as his retinue, as well as DNA samples from other Quen to later use to populate a new colony on another planet, brainwashed with MSP.^[5]

Londra used the view of the Ascension as a reward to those who figured out the words of attainment, with those who saw it being amazed by the view. When Aloy and Seyka arrived at the Ascension Hall, the Ascension was 97% finished. As they approached it, their Focuses indicated that radiation was present, although not at dangerous levels. After scanning the spaceships, Aloy was able to figure out Londra's plans^[6] which Nova later confirmed correct.^[7]

It appears that the Ascension was buried when Londra took control of the Horus and moved it away from Heaven's Rest.^[8]
