- "Our people are soldiers. We respect strength and agility. Penttoh has neither."

A Soldier's March is a side quest in Horizon Forbidden West.
Synopsis[]
At the Bulwark, Aloy overhears two Sky Clan teens, Litakka and Jekkah, arguing. Jekkah's brother Penttoh has left to earn his soldier's mark by partaking in a dangerous climb called the "March of the Ten", and has yet to return. Due to her squad duties, Jekkah is unable to check up on him, and asks Aloy to do it in her stead.
At the start of the climb, Aloy finds a group of wounded Tenakth. Their leader, Wekatta, explains that a blizzard has interrupted the March, and Penttoh is among three climbers still trapped on the mountain. Penttoh, looked upon the rest of the clan as weak, was the only one to attempt the climb alone, making his odds of survival even slimmer. As Aloy prepares to check up on the climbers, one of them, Zikka, returns, having been separated from her partner Rokko in an avalanche. Using her Focus to help her see through the storm, Aloy begins the climb.
Aloy finds Rokko fighting off a Stalker. After the two take it out, Rokko explains that Penttoh saved him from the avalanche before continuing the climb. Aloy sees Rokko return back to the other climbers before resuming her search for Penttoh. She eventually finds him fighting off a group of Leaplashers. After helping him dispatch them, she tells him to head back. However, Penttoh refuses to return before completing the March, seeing it as his only chance to earn his clan's respect. Recalling that she experienced something similar with the Proving, Aloy concedes, and accompanies Penttoh as his partner.
After navigating the crumbling trail and fighting off a Frostclaw, Aloy and Penttoh finally reach the summit. While Penttoh grabs the Blood Crest flower as proof of his march, Aloy goes on ahead to return to the other climbers. She arrives to the climbers and a worried Jekkah, and Penttoh arrives soon after. When a fellow climber attempts to mock Penttoh and the idea of him making rank, Penttoh silences him with a head butt. As they leave, Rokko shakes hands with Penttoh, expressing hope that he'll be able to later join Penttoh's squad and return the favor for saving his life.
